Food & Clothing Drives and Fundraisers
How to organize a drive
Whether you represent a small group of family and friends, a church, small business, or community-minded corporate team food and clothing drives can be an extremely helpful way to support Net of Compassion.
Need Help?
We can help you work out the details of what method works best for your organization. Other organizations have gathered needed items or raised money, and sometimes both. They have often focused on one of our programs, like supplies for the outdoor shower units or food for our pantry. We can create an Amazon wish list specifically for your drive or you can create your own list for distribution to your network. Our current top needs and some examples of previous donation drives can be found below There are many possibilities and we look forward to working with you to figure out the route that is best for your organization.
If you have more specific questions and/or to coordinate the drop-off of items from your food or clothing drive, please call (508) 322-1363.
Preparing for Pick-up or Drop-off
It works best when the bags, boxes, or containers in which you collect or store the donated items are not ripped. Big bags and boxes can be heavy (or impossible) to lift. You can collect items in a large bin, but please pack items in small quantities (no more than 25 lbs./bag) to make it easy to lift and transport them. Please do not use contractor garbage bags–they tend to promote over-stuffing, then become hard to transport and store. Please note that we sometimes send volunteers for pickup. Many hands make light work. Your assistance loading the donated items is very much appreciated.

“Thank you!” to our supporting organizations
Preemeer Real Estate
Premeer Real Estate’s Premeer Gives Back Committee selected Net of Compassion as one of 10 beneficiaries for their Premeer Gives Back Program for 2021. For each successful closing, the Premeer agent & Premeer Real Estate team up to make a $150 donation in the buyer’s name to the charity or organization from the beneficiary list. Premeer Real Estate has offices in the Worcester area, and in a hot real estate market, more closings could mean more potential donations. It’s a great way for Premeer to give back, and for home buyers to contribute to their new community.

MCPHS Nursing Students without Borders fundraiser
The Campus Life office of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Nursing Students Without Borders started a fundraiser specifically for their student community. Tiffany Deschamps’s student project gave spark to the idea and donation amounts were tied directly to specific programming costs such as the cost to serve a lunch to one individual, lunch for a 30-member group, or daily shower operations. Specific asks amounts like these make the donation into tangible idea for the donors. Over $2,900 was raised in addition to a variety of in-kind donations as well! Thank you to everyone who participated!

Realtor Association of Central Massachusetts
Members of the Realtor Association of Central Massachusetts formed a Community Action Committee which selected Net of Compassion as RACM’s 2021 Charity of Choice. They organized a Spring Ahead Food Drive which ran March 8–26, 2021. Patricia Kosiba who organized the drive said:
“It is our honor to serve the community in various ways, including continued support to this amazing charity that we hold close to our hearts.” |
United Way Wish List Campaign
The United Way of Central Massachusetts established a special Amazon Wish List campaign to help Net of Compassion acquire much needed items for its shower program. During the month of April, members of the UWCM community purchased from the list. Emily McCann, Director, Women’s Initiative and staff from United Way of Central Massachusetts brought towels, soaps, combs, brushes, deodorants, lotions, sandals, and more! Our shower trailer team, Sonia, Hector, Heather and guests truly appreciate this wonderful donation!
