Shower Trailer

April Showers

It's more than a hot shower. It's a matter of dignity.

During peak use, our shower trailer provides 40 showers each day. Each 10-minute shower can consume around 25 gallons of water. That can mean 9,000 showers and therefore approximately 225,000 gallons of water are used each year.

In order to sustain the shower program, every day we provide:
  • fresh towels
  • clean pairs of underwear for men and women
  • shower sandals
  • soap and shampoo
  • toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • as well as other personal hygiene items

Those are important items. But most importanly, our shower trailer provides dignity to each person who uses this service.

Your donation will help us defray the cost of running the shower program so that we can sustain hot showers for anyone who needs one, and to continue to provide that sense of dignity.

Joshua’s Showers for the Homeless

Our shower trailer is available to anyone in need of a hot shower anytime during regular hours.

History
Covid-19 shut-downs in 2020 had left no facilities open for the homeless to shower. An angel donation came from a long-time friend and supporter of Net of Compassion, Sophie Kozaczka of Keller Williams on Shrewsbury Street, Worcester. Sophie lost her son, Joshua Peter Kozaczka, to substance use disorder on November 12, 2019. She wants the shower trailer to serve as a tribute to his life and a tangible reminder that people still love and care for the homeless and those suffering from substance use disorder. She hopes that this loving environment may help others recover.

NEW Location and Hours:
44 Temple Street, Worcester MA at St. John's Church
Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–11:00 am

This program is made possible, in part, by funding from United Way of Central Massachusetts.

Sophie Kozaczka

We are deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Sophie Kozaczka. Sophie was, in the words of Pastor Richie, a “true saint” as she was a person who tirelessly showed compassion to those in need in her community, and beyond.

Sophie was a long-time supporter of Net of Compassion. She donated, in memory of her son Joshua, a mobile shower trailer so that guests of Hotel Grace, and others suffering through homelessness, could get a hot shower and a clean towel. Sophie shared her thoughts during our virtual benefit last year, that she wanted “Joshua’s name, kindness, and his generosity to live on.” Sophie's enduring commitment to serving those in need will also live on through Joshua’s Showers for the Homeless. We will miss her greatly and give thanks for the many blessings she brought to everyone whose lives she touched.

We truly believe that this statement applies to her, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. [8] Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 NKJV
