Street Outreach Programs
Starting with just a few small tables with sandwiches on Main Street in 2010, the
Saturday outreach program was born. Over the ensuing years Net of Compassion is now supported by community volunteers and serves over 250 nutritious meals per week.
Home Cooked Meals
Net of Compassion volunteers prepare, cook, transport, and serve a nutritious home cooked meal to people in need, outdoors, right in the heart of Worcester on Main Street. The volunteers are incredible people of faith that work tirelessly to make sure everyone receives food, support and encouragement. The Saturday program runs no matter the extreme weather conditions. Executive Director, Richie Gonzalez estimates that Net of Compassion has helped thousands of individuals over the years.
People that visit Net of Compassion are adults struggling with active addiction, homelessness, unemployment, and mental health issues. The volunteers at Net of Compassion utilize their time, while serving meals, to encourage guests and inquire what other help they may need. Over time, strong relationships are built with Net of Compassion staff. Through these connections we begin to work on individualized plans towards their recovery.
Clothing and Food Pantry
Net of Compassion has a food and clothing program. It started outside in a tent on Saturdays but has since moved inside to 674 Main St on Wednesday and Thursdays due to Covid. We are able to provide quality clothing for people to survive the outdoor elements, but more importantly, to be able to go to work and feel a part of society again. See current hours above.
24/7 Hour Outreach
Net of Compassion supports individuals in need, close to 24 hours a day. With the guidance of the Executive staff, our volunteer teams are able to get people the help they need when they need it. Street outreach is an integral part of what we do.
Inspiring Message Of Hope, Music And Teachings
Through live music and inspiring songs every Saturday during the Mobile Outreach program, Director Richie Gonzalez, an ordained minister, brings a message of hope that is centered in his Christian values. Speakers from around the city join him on a weekly basis. Net of Compassion encourages individuals to find a life of faith in God as a means of support during their most difficult times.
